Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Work closely with the clearing agents to ensure smooth clearance of the shipments, by checking the received documents, chasing the necessary payments and constant follow up of the process.
- Monitor the correct status of the import/export containers and report for any deviations.
- Ensure that all transit movements are closed accordingly within the given timeframes and the bond is acquitted correctly.
- Ensure all transit documents are collected and properly filed for audit and customs inspection purposes.
- Be proactive and assist to the transit supervisor for any task required, for achieving the company goals in full accordance with the Customs laws and procedures.
- Contribute for the HSSE environment.
- Comply with safety regulations.
- Follows all safety procedures required by Legislation and Company policies and procedures.
- Identify and report any hazards that can compromise the safety in the company operations.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
- Previous experience in similar positions an advantage.
- People’s skills: The Customs officer needs to have the right skills to be able to relate well with government personnel.
- Good communication skills – both oral and written.
- Computer proficiency: The Customs officer must be able to operate the computer.
- Good management skills, and the ability to pay attention to details.
- Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Be proactive and responsible.
- Ability to handle pressure.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic.
- Possess administrative skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
- High attention to detail.
- Highest ethical standards.
